A total of 35 organisations will be taking part to help the borough’s elderly and vulnerable residents be aware of the range of services that are available to support them and to help keep them safe. The Community Safety Day is free to all residents and participating organisations.
It is being organised by the Safer Sutton Partnership Service, which manages the borough community safety services, and Sutton Neighbourhood Watch and the Borough’s Libraries, Heritage & Arts Services. The Mayor of Sutton – Councillor Muhammad Sadiq – is due to attend at 11:00am when he will tour all the information stands which include the Met Police, London Fire Brigade, Age UK and many others.
The free health checks are being provided by LiveWell Sutton and Merton and are available to anyone aged 40-74 who lives or has a GP in the borough of Sutton and hasn’t had a health check in the past five years. Last year’s Community Safety Day for Older People attracted more than 1,000 visitors.
