Councillor Arthur Hookway of Worcester Park and Councillor Margaret Court have been selected as the borough's top representatives.
"Can I start by congratulating you on taking on the role of Mayor for this municipal year?," said councillor Dombey
"I have known you for some years and I have the highest regard for you. You have spent decades in the Fire Service, serving our community and our borough and I know you have instilled a strong sense of public service in the men and women who have served under you. It makes me very proud to see you on the dais as a newly elected councillor and I know that the Borough will benefit from your strong sense of community and of justice. And if there is ever a fire alarm during Full Council meetings, I know who I’m following out the door!
I am also delighted that Councillor Margaret Court has agreed to be your Deputy Mayor. Margaret was first elected in 1994 and with the retirement of many longstanding Councillors in May, she is now our longest serving councillor. She has considerable experience of the role of both Mayor and Deputy Mayor and I know that her contribution will be invaluable.
You will make a great team," she said.
