The aims of the competition were to celebrate the Wandle Valley and to use the winning entries to populate the pages of the new Wandle Valley Regional Park web pages.
The competition has been sponsored by leading creative team Cubiquity.
The winning entries in the four categories, Wandle Folk, Urban Wandle, Working Wandle and Natural Wandle will announced to an audience of top speakers and local VIPs at the Trust's AGM and celebration of a year of work at Bedzed Pavilion, Sutton on December 10th from 7pm.
Speakers at the AGM, which is sponsored by leading London regeneration company First Base, will include representatives from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Greater London Authority and First Base.
Sue Morgan CEO of the Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust said:
"We wanted local amateur photographers of all ages to capture the very essence of the Wandle Valley and they did not disappoint the judges. The entries reflect the many special qualities of this important place, not only its landscape and wildlife, but also its people and its gritty industrial heritage. I look forward to naming the very deserving winners at our AGM."
David Rothwell, Development Manager for First Base said:
‘’We are thrilled to be involved in this competition; it represents everything the Wandle Valley is about and a great opportunity for local people to play an active role in the community. We are big supporters of the Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust and the work they’re involved with in developing the regional park and providing improved access to the Wandle Valley’s open spaces and the river itself.’’
Dan Mitchell, CEO of Cubiquity said:
“Working with the Trust and partners to sponsor the photographic competition has been really rewarding. We’ve been delighted with the number and quality of local entrants’ submissions, and how residents and visitors interact with the Wandle. We’re looking forward to seeing the photos come to life on the new website.”
