A total of 37 organisations participated in what is believed to be the largest event of its kind in the borough in recent times.
Organisations included Sutton Council, Met Police and London Fire Brigade, Age UK, Sutton Street Pastors, Sutton Carers, Meals on Wheels, Sutton Shopmobility, NatWest and Copley Clark Solicitors.
Special features included a free NHS Health Check for residents aged 40-74. A total of 20 residents received the 20-minute long check which also provided advice on healthy living.
The event was organised by the Safer Sutton Partnership Service, which manages the borough community safety services; Sutton Neighbourhood Watch; and the Borough's Libraries, Heritage & Arts Services.
The Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Muhammad Sadiq, spent an hour talking to the representatives from the different organisations and many visitors too.
Glenn Phillips, Head of Community Safety Services, said: "This is all about Sutton doing what it does best: coming together to help those most vulnerable in our communities. We want to establish this as a regular annual event which we plan to develop for the benefit of residents and organisations in the borough."
Cllr Simon Wales, Deputy Leader of Sutton Council, said: "I was very pleased to be able to visit and support Safer Sutton's Community Day. This event is an excellent example of bringing together many borough services affecting older residents and giving them the opportunity to ask questions and find ways to help themselves. It was very encouraging to see so many voluntary and community organisations there who contribute so much to the well-being of Sutton's residents."
Cllr Nali Patel, Lead Councillor for Older People, said: "This Community Safety Day for Older People provides our residents with lots of information from a wide variety of relevant organisations in a convenient way. It gives residents the opportunity to ask lots of questions and to get advice there and then. The day also encourages people to join some of the many clubs we have in the borough that are there to provide them with volunteering activities and to encourage them to lead a healthier lifestyle. This all helps to build a sense of community and inclusion and prevent social isolation."
