How often have you said a problem shared is a problem halved? And how many of us have achieved our goals and dreams without the help, advice and support of other people? We are all stronger together and that’s just what a Circle of Support could mean for you. Share the problems, the joy of achieving and in the process build confidence and plan for the future.
Circle members can be family, friends, local community volunteers and paid workers. They meet together a few times a year or more frequently dependant on the goals a person wants to achieve. These could be for example the big things in life such as ‘how to go about finding work’, making plans for future support or ‘where and how to live’ as well as the more day to day things such as joining a new activity, friends and relationships, planning a birthday party or learning new skills.
"My role is to help establish a person’s Circle of Support, engage with and support circle members, offer training to people facilitating a circle and work with a circle until everyone feels confident to continue independently. Circles of Support are designed to be informal, social but with a purpose," said Jude Okeke Circles Support manager.
