Foresters Primary School, Redford Avenue, Wallington, was chosen as the participating school in Sutton Borough and the competition winners from the school were presented with their prizes by Sgt Simon Alexander, of Sutton Police Station on Thursday, 19 November. The overall London-wide winner was a pupil from Havering.
The appeal encouraged residents to buy a Christmas present for a child in local authority care who may not otherwise receive a gift this festive season.
Within ten days of launching the appeal in Sutton earlier this month - all the 200 presents for children and young people up to and including the age of 17 had been allocated. The presents will be given to children in care in the days running up to Christmas.
"This is all about residents rallying around to help children in care who can find this season difficult - and as usual Sutton has shown it has a big heart with residents responding extremely quickly and generously to our appeal," said Sgt Simon Alexander.
Any new presents brought into Sutton Police Station will be given out via charities to other children in need locally.
