'Our Place! - Embracing Mental Health', is here to support employers.
Our Place! - Embracing Mental Health is a partnership that brings together organisations involved in supporting people with mental health issues get back into employment. Partners in the project include Mencap, Imagine, Sutton JobcentrePlus, Sutton IAPT, South West London St George's Mental Health Trust and SCOLA. The project is part of the national Our Place! programme run by DCLG.
The aim of Our Place! - Embracing Mental Health is:
to help more unemployed people with mental health conditions, learning disabilities, or autistic spectrum conditions into sustained employment; to support more workplaces to become 'healthy workplaces' in which employee wellbeing is taken seriously.
to support more workplaces to become 'healthy workplaces' in which employee wellbeing is taken seriously.
Our Place! - Embracing Mental Health revolves around two key features - The Employer's Pledge and an Employer Engagement Officer.
1. The Employer's Pledge is a commitment to having a conversation with us to explore ways that could help support the employment of people with mental health issues.
2. The Employer Engagement Officer is the single point of contact for employers, exploring ways they can support people with mental health conditions into employment. The officer will ensure the employer receives support from the partnership members in a collaborative way.
By taking part in Our Place! - Embracing Mental Health and signing the employment pledge you will receive:
a conversation to explore ways that you could help the employability of people with mental health issues.
ongoing, reliable support for both new employees with Mental Health issues and for the employer.
access to a scheme that allows you to trial employees ('try before you buy') so that you only end up employing people you know can do the job.
guidance in the many ways that you can help - we will find something that works for your business suitable to its size, needs and capacities.
Examples include:
Work experience
Work trials (try-before-you-buy)
Mentoring (coaching people to improve their confidence)
Mock interviews
Learning from best practice to promote a 'healthier' workplace for all employees.
