Louise Upchurch is a mum of one, living in Sutton and passionate on all things food but maybe not in the way you would expect.
"I love to cook and bake and experiement with recipes but I strongly believe that good food should be accessible to all. I won’t be talking to you about cooking meals with ingredients that you have never heard of or that you can’t source locally.
"It’s 2016, we all lead busy lives, we crave convenience and ease but often at the detriment of our own health and our local community. We fall back on the take-away or the ready meal as it’s quick and easy but it often leaves us unsatisfied. We have forgotten that food is to be savoured and enjoyed and instead we treat eating meals as an unwelcome necessity of life.
"This campaign is all about fresh food and fresh ideas on food. It’s about encouraging us to refresh our thinking when it comes to how we eat, cook, buy and view food.
"I’m going to be posting my own experiences of refreshing my relationship with food. I will share recipes and produce I have tried and tested myself. The recipes will use a minimal amount of ingredients and will be quick to cook so that you can still cook fresh even after a busy day at work or with the family. I will be highlighting local businesses and producers and showing how easy it is to buy local and support local.
"There will also be a focus on cutting the amount we spend on food and what to do with leftovers (let’s face it we all have forgtotten about ingredients lurking in our cupboards and fridges) I will also be looking at how we can donate and share food to build community and cut down on unnecessary food waste.
In this campaign, there will be pledges to sign up to about using locally produced food, eating seasonal foods, dumping the junk and sharing food with others.
