MAPS (Mentoring Advocay and Perr Support) organised by the Volunteer Centre in Sutton won an award from GamesAid last night.
GamesAid are the charitable arm of the video games industry. They work tirelessly to raise money for UK charities that support vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.
Last night some of the MAPS team attended an award ceremony during EGX London, at Earls Court. This was hosted by GamesAid and was an emotional affair. After hearing what all of the amazing charities do to support young people there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
"MAPS are honoured to have been one of the selected charities to have received the award which comes with a very generous donation. This money will be used to support young people in Sutton who are in mental and emotional distress.
With national figures showing 1 in 10 children suffering a diagnosable mental health disorder, and 1 in 12 disclosing self- harm, wide support networks are increasingly essential," said a spokesperson.
Helen Gasparelli, MAPS Manager said,’ I can’t thank GamesAid and their members enough, their efforts really will change lives for the better.’
