The charity needs to try and raise £4,000 which will allow it to "unlock" a further £5,000 and this money will be spent solely on breakaways.
"Maintaining friendships is hard for adults with a learning disability and carers need time out too. We are appealing to all of our supporters and the wider community to be part of our solution by supporting ‘Breakaways’ – a year long programme of short breaks," said a spokesperson.
"Breakaways also gives parent/carers an opportunity to recharge their batteries. “We both look forward to the breakaways weekend because my son is with his friends and staff that we have got to know and trust over the years so I don’t feel like I’m leaving him somewhere for my benefit. I know he will come home happy and relaxed and that means I enjoy my time to myself. That’s priceless!”.
"With your support we can give local families the opportunity to enjoy 50 short breaks and 12 weekends away next year. "
