Staff from SHP nominated over 140 of their residents that they believed deserved a ‘pat on the back’ or ‘just a little something to make them feel good’, for their good work in the community and for being a good neighbour, or for those who were without family or friends at Christmas time.
Children from Rushy Meadow, Abbey Primary, Hackbridge Primary, Green Wrythe Primary, Cheam Park Farm Junior, St Dunstans Cheam C of E Primary, Westbourne Primary and Holy Trinity C of E Junior School, gathered at the Salvation Army Community Centre in Sutton to hand out presents to all those residents who had been chosen to receive a gift.
Emma Pearson, Community Development Officer at Sutton Housing Partnership, said, “What an absolutely fantastic morning we have all had! The schools were very excited to be taking part in this festive campaign, and it was also a fantastic opportunity for the children to do something special for some of the residents in Sutton. This can be a difficult and lonely time for some, and this event was a great opportunity for children to help others to crack’a’smile!”
