PC Hall was joined by her husband, PC Jason Hall, who is based at Southwark, and PC Christine Barker at Lewisham and two other friends for the Santa fun run in Priory Park, Reigate, Surrey, on Sunday, 7 December. In total, more than 600 runners were taking part raising money for many different charities.
PC Hall and her team raised £920 towards the £60,000 target to send Harvey Watson, who has cerebral palsy, to America for advanced surgery to help him walk for the first time.
Due to complications at birth, Harvey was starved of oxygen for 20 minutes, which resulted in severe brain damage and seizures. He is unable to sit, stand or walk unaided. The money would pay for selective dorsal rhizotomy, which involves testing his nerves individually using electrical current and cutting out the faulty ones. This would remove the stiffness in his legs, help him become pain free and, with post operation physiotherapy, help him walk. Harvey lives with his Mum, Dad and two sisters in Leatherhead.
