The stunning backdrop of Blenheim Palace provided a perfect setting for over 7,000 triathetes to push their bodies to the limit. The race is the second largest triathlon in the UK and attracts a wide range of athletes, from beginners to elite racers. Tom finding himself somewhere between the two, was able to finish 1,784th out of 3,911 competitors in the sprint race.
The MP for Carshalton and Wallington was more than up for the challenge saying that:
‘The Diamond Centre for Disabled Riders is an extremely worthy cause, they provide therapeutic riding and hippotherapy for some of the most vulnerable people. It was an incredible day out and I was even able to improve on my time from 2012 by about 4 minutes, meaning that I might be able to complete with Olympic medal winners, the Brownlee Brothers... in 50 years time!’
