"We are a community of counsellors offering free independent confidential counselling in the heart of the Third Age communities we serve. We don't have a shiny clinic to which older people must travel - we prefer to offer community services in any community setting willing to give us a free room so that we are part of local community," said a spokesperson.
"We are an organisational member of BACP as are all our counsellors and are fully insured. We abide by a strong code of ethics and practice and complaints procedure. We offer a full clinical service to people over the age of 50. Everything remains entirely confidential unless there is cause for concern. As we are independent we can offer as many sessions as are needed tailoring counselling to the individual needs of the client because each person is unique. One size does not fit all. Loneliness, social isolation - and fear of developing dementia - are some of the recurring themes of our work. In Sutton we will also offer counselling to carers and to library staff. If a staff member would like counselling we prefer that they access counselling in a library in which they don't work. We believe in continuity of care and offer home based counselling during times of illness etc."
