Wandle Wheelers will kick off with a led bike ride from the River Wandle Delta to Morden Hall Park along the Wandle Trail on Saturday 10th September. The event will celebrate Wandle September and Totally Thames as well as launching Get Active Wandle Valley’s newest initiative, Wandle Wheelers.
Wandle Wheelers will offer regular led cycle rides exploring the Wandle Valley Regional Park over a 10-week programme. It will appeal to all communities and abilities, whether they have a bike or not.
Dan Cudmore, Project Coordinator for Get Active Wandle Valley thinks this is a very important time for cycling within the capital.
“We have a real opportunity here. Following the success of Team GB at the Olympic Games I am sure we will see an increase in people taking up cycling and there are plenty of places throughout the Wandle Valley Regional Park that offer the perfect opportunity to cycle.”
The Wandle Wheelers programme of rides will take in much of the Regional Park and will also utilise parts of the Wandle Trail. The trail is 13 miles of quietways, cycling and walking routes starting in Croydon and finishing in Wandsworth where the River Wandle meets the Thames.
