Three Year 8 pupils at Homefield Preparatory School recently delivered a passionate presentation to Sutton Council on road safety and their plans to encourage more students to walk or cycle to school.

Stanley Park High is delighted to announce that it has achieved an overall grading of ‘good’ in its recent Ofsted Inspection, with personal development, behaviour and welfare of students graded as ‘outstanding’.
Over 30 Year 10 Stanley Park High School Business Studies students participated in the ‘Fruit Challenge’ Enterprise Project which was based on students ‘adding value’ to fruit in order to sell appetising treats to the school. The young entrepreneurs made and sold fruit kebabs, strawberry cookies chocolate-coated strawberries at home or using the school’s professionally furnished catering centre.
Each team distributed and displayed promotional materials, having set themselves a tight budget, and the entire scheme was self-fund by each team – all groups were kept and divided their profit which was a significant motivational factor! Competition was fierce as teams had to sell to the same target market at the same time. The winning team made 80% profit. Twenty year 9 students from Carshalton Boys College travelled to the Royal Geographical Society recently.
The day was organised to enthuse and engage students with Geography GCSE and is run by sessions of Geography Ambassadors who are undergraduates studying Geography at university. There were three workshops – Globalisation, Volcanoes & ‘I love Geography’. Students and teachers from Carshalton High School for Girls are being encouraged to sharpen their pencils or get out their paints next week as they take part in an event called The Big Draw.

This year’s theme is ‘Every drawing has a story. Sutton High School recently put a week's focus on the subject opf Biology with a range of events.
It was the fourth time that this event had been arranged and there were many stimulating activities planned to help the girls get involved, including a lecture in partnership with the Royal Society of Biology, a quiz, a debate, a photography competition and even a Biology Bake Off! Year 6 took part in an autumn Scavenger Hunt, finding lots of different items that reminded them of autumn. Years 9-13 all took part in a biology quiz during their form time which really tested their biological general knowledge. Two members of Year 13 (Aurelia and Amina) took part in a debate based on the motion “This house believes we should genetically modify embryos.” "It was a fascinating debate, which brought up many ethical issues for the audience to consider and at the final vote the motion was rejected," said a spokesperon. Dr Natalie Pettorelli gave an absorbing insight into her work and the large audience from several local schools were fascinated by some of the anecdotes she spoke about. The students had many interesting follow up questions when she finished her lecture. The Biology Bake off competition was held on the final day of Biology Week and many cakes were brought up to the Biology department during the morning. Police are investigating a chicken coup which was set on fire deliberately within the grounds of Carshalton Boys Sports College, Winchcombe Road, Carshalton, on Saturday, 7 November at around 04:00hrs. Stanley Park High invite Year 11 students and their parents to attend our Post-16 Open Evening on Tuesday 10th November from 6:00pm to 8.00pm. The school's expanding Post 16 has been designed to meet the needs of our local community and has helped shape curriculum pathways for September 2016.
