It was the fourth time that this event had been arranged and there were many stimulating activities planned to help the girls get involved, including a lecture in partnership with the Royal Society of Biology, a quiz, a debate, a photography competition and even a Biology Bake Off!
Year 6 took part in an autumn Scavenger Hunt, finding lots of different items that reminded them of autumn.
Years 9-13 all took part in a biology quiz during their form time which really tested their biological general knowledge.
Two members of Year 13 (Aurelia and Amina) took part in a debate based on the motion “This house believes we should genetically modify embryos.”
"It was a fascinating debate, which brought up many ethical issues for the audience to consider and at the final vote the motion was rejected," said a spokesperon.
Dr Natalie Pettorelli gave an absorbing insight into her work and the large audience from several local schools were fascinated by some of the anecdotes she spoke about. The students had many interesting follow up questions when she finished her lecture.
The Biology Bake off competition was held on the final day of Biology Week and many cakes were brought up to the Biology department during the morning.
