Once one of the most polluted rivers in Britain; the river now contains brown trout and other fish such as chub, roach and perch. King fishers can be seen flying along its banks
London Wildlife Trust is organising a number of guided walks and talks will be of interest to local residents who live close to the river, and who rent from housing associations, co-operatives or councils.
Andy Willmore, an expert from London Wildlife Trust, will be exploring the environment around the River Wandle, looking at the trees which grow along its banks, the fish which live within the river and the management of the river environment.
The walks and talks are part of the Wandle Estates Community Outreach Project, which aims to secure the interest of social housing residents who live close to the River Wandle, and to help ensure that they have the opportunities to become involved in and benefit from the activities.
