The caller claimed to be from British Gas but when challenged about his company and not wearing their uniform he left quickly. The suspect is described as a white man, 5ft 6in tall, of slim build with cropped hair and big rimmed glasses. He was wearing an open collar shirt.
Police have praised the actions of two female residents who refused entry to men who called at their homes unexpectedly wanting to read their meter.

Sutton Council has successfully prosecuted a landlord for operating an unlicensed house in multiple occupation on Sutton High Street and for failing to comply with regulations concerned with managing the property to keep tenants safe. The defendant, TLK Properties and Investments Ltd, received fines totalling £4,450 for offences under the Housing Act 2004, along with a contribution to prosecution costs of £3,500, and a Victim Surcharge of £120, making a total of £8,070. On 12th August 2016 at 1pm in St Nicholas churchyard a strange local tradition is going to be carried out.
This is the annual inspection of the Gibson Tomb. The tomb was erected under the will of his daughter Mary Gibson and is dated 1777. The church carries out an inspection of the tomb on 12th August each year in accordance with Mary's will.
