Mayor of Sutton Cllr Muhammad Sadiq and Deputy Leader of the Council and Fairtrade Champion Cllr Simon Wales were among those treated to a Fairtrade breakfast on Saturday 5 March in the Oasis Café, Trinity Church.

Clarinettist, Jemma Love is this year’s winner of Sutton Music Service Young Musician of the Year. Jemma, who studies with Charlotte Webber and Catriona Scott at the Junior Department of London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, is a member of Sutton Youth Wind Orchestra and Sutton Youth Symphony Orchestra, as well as the prestigious National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain.
The Victorian and Edwardian Garden at Honeywood Museum is to be the subject of an event on March 24 - which will also see the launch of a the new Friends of Honeywood Garden Club.

A massive 5,500 minutes - an amazing 91 hours of total tele watching - have been viewed so far from the first five episodes of SV TV, which was launched last summer to celebrate the first year anniversary of Sutton Voice's website being officially launched. An anti-speeding initiative to keep children safe involved youngsters not only hearing a talk about road safety in assembly but also going out into the street to see how police officers use their 'speed gun' to see whether drivers are travelling too fast. Officers from Beddington South Safer Neighbourhoods Team gave a talk covering road and bus safety to Year 5 and 6 students at Bandon Hill School, which is situated on busy Sandy Lane South, Wallington. To date the club has more than seventy people on their books and get a new member every week. The group now has mindfullness sessions and chairbased exercises and in April the group will restart nordic walking and bikedays at the David Weir Centre l The popinclub is a support group for people with fibromyalgia and chronic pain. Common symptoms of fibromyalgia are Muscle pain and stiffness Fatigue Specific ‘tender points’ Disturbed sleep Poor concentration Irritable Bowel Syndrome Many people with fibromyalgia struggle with the condition for years. It often takes a conversation with someone or an article in the press to alert them to fibro myalgia as a possible cause for their condition. Many medial professionals do not have the expertise to diagnose or treat people with fibro myalgia but it is estimated that 2% (that is one in every 50) of the population are likely to develop this condition. It mainly affects women. The group are working to raise awareness of the condition within the community and particularly amongst the medical profession. On April 5 for young people aged between six and 10 there is the chance to take a look at the changes that take place during the spring and the history of some of the traditions we have in spring. Supported by The Friends of Honeywood Museum, Honeywood Walk, it starts at 11am and lasting until 1pm each history discovery session will have lots of exciting, fun, hands on activities including crafts and stories. The events are free but must be pre booked on 020 8770 4297 and all children must be accompanies by a responsible adult. Donations will be very welcome.
