Staying in the beautiful city of Salzburg (the birth place of Mozart), the young musicians, all aged 13-19 and drawn from local schools, performed four concerts; two on the outskirts of Salzburg and two across the border in Bavaria. Each concert featured Sutton Youth Concert Orchestra, conducted by Phil Aslangul and Sutton Youth Wind Orchestra, conducted by Roger Willey. All four events were well attended by enthusiastic audiences, who even demanded four encores at the last concert!
Lewis Gibbs, Head of Music Service, commented, "Our annual summer tour is a highlight of the year for our young musicians and it's always a lot of fun. This year was no exception and we were delighted to have the opportunity to perform to such appreciative audiences. We're very fortunate to have such talented young musicians in Sutton and tours like this are a great way of celebrating their achievements."
