Sutton Theatres are looking for local singers to be involved in a community chorus as part of their upcoming opera, ‘The Lost Field of Summer’ in October 2015 at The Secombe in Sutton.
Sutton borough's largest arts event the Imagine festival has a proud boast that there is something for everyone during its more than two weeks period.

Arts Network Sutton promotes, champions, nurtures and acts an inclusive voice for the diverse range of arts in Sutton. It is funded mainly through an annual grant from the London Borough of Sutton but it is keen to build on other income sources. "The Treasurer will play a key role among the trustees in the effective governance of this small but significant charity. The other trustees, consisting of a Chair, two vice-Chairs and five Executive Committee members, will look to the Honorary Treasurer to advise and reassure them on all aspects of the charity's financial management and reporting, control systems and risk management, as well as to keep the books, make authorised payments, manage the bank accounts and lead the financial liasion with the Borough," said a spokesperson. "Ideally the Treasurer will be experienced in finance and have a strong interest in the arts. It would be a bonus if he or she lived in or near the Borough. "Anyone who would like to know more about this important role in the development of the arts in Sutton should send an expression of interest to Dick Bower, Vice-Chair, at [email protected]." Sutton Symphony Orchestra has announced its next concert which is to be performed at St Andrew's United Reformed Church, Northey Avenue, Cheam.
The SSO under conductor Philip Aslangul and Leader AnnMarie McDade will play Dvorak Slavonic Dances Opus 46; Bruch Violin Concerto Number 1 and Brahms Symphony Number 4 Solist is Lara Caister. SSO is an amateur orchestra which aims to provide the opportunity for players of a reasonable standard to experience rehearsing and performing works from the orchestral repertoire. SSO believes making music should be fun but challenging. It rehearses on Tuesday evenings during school term-time in central Sutton, 7.45 – 9.45 pm. The Orchestra performs three major public concerts per year within the London Borough of Sutton. "We show films you missed the first time round: cinema classics, musicals, dramas, and comedies. Our large screen, powerful projector, surround sound and blackout blinds create an attractive cinema environment," said a spokesperson. "We show most films with sub-titles to assist people with hearing difficulties. We also visit several homes for older people and clubs for people with dementia. "Our monthly programmes provide a community experience with coffee, tea, ice creams, popcorn and sweets on sale.
