Based on an extraordinary true story, Pride - this Friday’s movie at Sutton Life Centre - tells how a group of London gay and lesbian activists raised money to support miners’ families in the 1984 strike. Identifying a village in Wales they set off to make their donations in person. Described as one of the best British films for years, Pride (cert 15) stars Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton and Dominic West. The Observer described Pride as “Irresistibly uplifting”.
