"This is due to budgetary concerns - much of the budget earmarked for the opera now has to be spent on building maintenance on the Secombe and Cryer Theatres, which Sutton Theatres took over from Sutton Council in early 2015.
"Sadly, the buildings require much repair and maintenance after years of neglect, and Sutton Theatres are disappointed that these unforeseen issues have now impacted their artistic output. The venues will still host the rest of the programme as planned, with a variety of exciting visiting performances from UK and abroad, as well as Christmas pantomime Pinocchio.
"We would also like to remind the public to continue supporting our local theatres to ensure their continued future. The best way to do this is to join our membership scheme which gives a wide range of benefits both on shows and our newly revamped bars. For more details about benefits and how join please visit
