But they need your help.
For more than half a century, the Carshalton Pantomime Company has put on traditional family festive entertainment and now, in its 51st year, the company presents Dick Whittington in Pantoland at the Secombe Theatre, Sutton, from January 16-31, 2015.
The show will raise money for local young people’s charities, including the Friends of Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children.
The show’s director Paul Goldsmith said: “There is something for all the family here, and we are always thrilled to be back at the Secombe for the pantomime season.
“We always get great support from the local area, from residents and groups, and we hope this year will be no different.
“The cast have been working so hard in rehearsals and the show is looking just fantastic.
“We have great fun putting on these shows, and have done for many years. It is all about songs music and laughter, but there is also a very serious aim, to raise much needed money for local charities.”
This year, like all companies in the area, Carshalton Pantomime is facing another challenge. The long-term future of the Secombe Theatre is currently up in the air, but the group’s members are determined to continue the impressive reputation the company has built up.
This year’s production follows Dick Whittington in his quest to become Lord Mayor of London. But to do so he must find the missing keys to the City of London and defeat the evil King Rat along the way.
Joined in his quest by Alice Fitzwarren and her father Alderman Fitzwarren, Dame Sarah the Cook, Idle Jack and Tom (a talking cat), Dick sets off through a whole host of your favourite pantomime tales to ensure good triumphs over evil.
Aladdin, Peter Pan, Jack and the Beanstalk, Robin Hood, and others, all feature in this epic panto quest which features stunning costumes and scenery and some toe-tapping musical numbers.
Paul added: “This year we have a cast of around 50, drawn from all walks of life with one goal, to raise money for charity and have a blast doing so.”
