On April 25, 2015 they will be performing Antonín Dvorák "Stabat Mater".
Dvorák’s setting of the Stabat Mater is one of the very greatest choral works of the Nineteenth Century. Scored for soloists, choir and a large orchestra, it tells of Mary’s grief as she stands at the foot of the cross. Dvorák was inspired to write the work by the death of his daughter. Tragically, his remaining two children also died during the composition of the work. Inevitably, the work reflects the composer’s grief but it is also full of hope.
