To celebrate the Stanley Park team’s ongoing success, the English School’s Football Association (ESFA) selected the game as the ‘Tie of the Round’ which means that the whole school was awarded a day of fantastic football themed activities, including a visit from the Premier League star, training sessions from ESFA coaches and the school’s Sports Hall being transformed into a PlayStation Gaming Zone for the day to reward high-performing pupils.
Andy Knott, who headed up the organisation of the day at Stanley Park High said: “The day was a great success and something that students will remember for the rest of their lives. Kurt Zouma was a great ambassador for the ESFA and a great role model to the Stanley Park High students".
Additionally, as part of the action-packed day of activities, the school’s sporting superstars were given the chance to quiz the Chelsea star in a Q&A session. Zouma told the students all about his football career including his trickiest opponent, his favourite goal and his best friend in football.
Adam Griffith, Head of PE at Stanley Park High, said, “The day provided an absolutely amazing experience for the whole school and was a reward for our student’s hard work in PE, and recognition of the successes all our teams have had over the last few years.”
ESFA Chairman Mike Spinks added: “Stanley Park High was selected for the Playstation Tie of the Round due to its commitment to the ESFA tournaments, amazing success of their sports’ teams – particularly the Under 13 girls’ team this year - and the fantastic sport facilities and opportunities at the school.”
The PlayStation Schools’ Cup is the grassroots football partnership between PlayStation and the English Schools’ FA.
