Stanley Park High School U13’s Girls football team put up a great fight in the last eight of the Nationals
The U13’s travelled three hours to Cambridgeshire for one of their biggest games in school football. With the quarter finals being the furthest SPH girl’s football have ever got, they definitely felt the pressure on their shoulders.
From the whistle the match was extremely even- no one could call the game either way. The girls fought hard and ran tirelessly on a huge pitch.
With a goal less first half, SPH were raring to go in the second half. St Ivo’s player of the match crossed a perfect ball from a free kick into the box where the ball deflected into the Stanley Park goal allowing the opposition to go 1-0 up. The girls battled hard and created more opportunities than St Ivo but couldn’t find the back of the net. Five minutes before full time St Ivo scored a similar goal to the first.
