The bid is funding a programme that aims to drive growth within the Construction industry by supporting company's re-introduction of local and suitably qualified labour and support staff - with a background in construction - back into the workforce.
The bid is part of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) project for construction – a key project within the Greater London Joint Initiative Programme, funded by the CITB and London Enterprise Panel.
The programme offers work placements with contractors for a minimum of two weeks which will help workers to secure future employment. To take part in the programme the only requirement is that the individual is unemployed and has previously worked in the construction industry. Recent placements include Michelle Umagho-Ukueko, who was placed at a major Willmott Dixon Construction project based in Epsom. Michelle previously worked as a Health & Safety Advisor and the placement offered her the opportunity to update her skills in this area.
