Jonathan Throp from Chapmans says “Over the years we have come across each other professionally and on occasions, have used our friendship to pick each other’s brains. We soon realised we had a common outlook and desire to be able to offer clients a better service based on local provision and that a merger of our firms would enable us to deliver this. Both our firms have been in practice for many years with a large and wide client base and it seemed like a natural fit.”
Donald Morrison from Pearson Hards adds: “I am very pleased that this opportunity has arisen to join together to provide an even higher quality of service and wider range of services to the merged firms’ clients. While Jon and I are happy that we and our firms and staff will be able to work together - above all, our aim in this merger is to do the best we can for our clients.”
Staff from Chapmans will move from Sutton to Pearson Hards’ building in New Malden. Jonathan says “It will be more efficient to have one office. The Pearson Hards’ offices in New Malden are conveniently located with plenty of car parking. We look forward to welcoming our clients to the new office.”
About Champmans:
Chapmans in Sutton offers a range of legal expertise with specialist departments in conveyancing and private client work.
Chapmans was founded in 1950 by John Chapman, a former City solicitor, who wished to work closer to his home in Cheam.
It quickly gained a reputation for delivering friendly and efficient legal services to its clients both locally and further afield. Jonathan’s father, John, was with the firm for over 40 years from the mid 1950s and was largely responsible for its successful growth. His guiding principles have led the firm to the point where the merger with Pearson Hards is a natural progression to enable it to thrive still further.
