To coincide with national Breakfast Week, which runs from January 25-31, Enjoy Sutton has launched an exciting competition inviting members of the public to vote for the ‘best breakfast’ in town.
The competition kicked off on Sutton High Street today (Tuesday 27th) with mascots including ‘fried eggs on legs’ and stilt walking chefs encouraging venues and visitors to get involved.
The contest is open to all breakfast providers in Sutton and venues must register by 20th February to be put forward for the public vote. Each venue will have a unique voting code and diners will be able to cast their vote by text or by a postcard in the venue.
The venues with the most votes will be shortlisted and a team of independent judges will visit each finalist for breakfast. The breakfast venue with the highest score will be announced the overall winner on April 23rd at the St George’s Day Festival on Sutton High Street.
For a large town, Sutton is not lacking in breakfast options. However a new survey conducted for Breakfast Week shows that one in four of us regularly skip breakfast, with more than one in 10 people never eating it.
“The launch of Sutton’s first breakfast competition aims to raise awareness of the importance of breakfast and establish Sutton as a great place to eat that most important meal of the day,” said Ross Feeney, CEO of **Successful Sutton, the business improvement district (BID) which is running the competition through its Enjoy Sutton programme.
“With so many venues in town serving breakfast, from independent cafés to larger restaurants and even department stores, it will be really interesting to see which dish is crowned ‘Sutton’s best breakfast,’” Mr Feeney added
