Natural cosmetics, jewellery, handmade skirts and heated slippers are among the products local businesses and entrepreneurs will be introducing to borough shoppers this weekend (9 and 10 April) at the borough’s first Pop-Up market.
The Pop-Up Sutton entrepreneurs’ market at the northern end of Sutton High Street, near Asda, will have 13 stalls of new borough businesses displaying and selling their wares, including skincare products, children’s room decor and toys, clothing, flower arrangements, photographs and handmade skirts.
Street food including African cuisine, Indian street food, Italian food and brownies will also be available to purchase. There will also be live music, street performers and children’s face painting to entertain shoppers, families and friends.
The market has been developed by Opportunity Sutton, the economic arm of Sutton Council, as part of its remit to stimulate and support new business in the borough by providing an opportunity for borough start-ups to showcase their fledgling business ventures. It is being delivered in partnership with Successful Sutton, the town centre Business Improvement District.
Cllr Jayne McCoy, Chair of the Housing, Economy and Business Committee at Sutton Council, said:
“We have set up Pop-Up Sutton to support our budding entrepreneurs and bring new blood into the High Street.”
The Pop-Up Sutton market is open from 10am to 5pm this Saturday and Sunday. The market will then take place on the first weekend of each month.
