Open House London is the capital's largest annual festival of architecture and design, and running from the 17th - 18th September 2016. Sutton's theme will be 'Local Treasures Unlocked' and we'll have a range of venues open to the public, with some new additions and plenty of activities for all the family.
As well as many unusual buildings being open on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September, there will be a number of special events, all of which are listed below:
Local Treasures Unlocked Exhibition
Students from Sutton College’s art and craft departments will be displaying work in the Europa Gallery from Tuesday 13th - Sunday 18th September. Tutors and students have visited various Open House venues in the borough and gathered reference materials to work from for this vibrant exhibition showcasing some of the fantastic buildings in Sutton. Work includes drawings, paintings and photographs and students have been working on this project over the past term. Carshalton House Tours
For the first time, there will be special tours running at 1pm and 3pm. This can be booked on eventbrite. Numbers are limited, so do book in advance to avoid disappointment.

The heritage, skyline and vision for the future walk can be booked on eventbrite and will be very popular. Numbers are limited, so do book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Exploring creative architecture through building and drawing
People of all ages are invited to enjoy some hands on Engineering and Architecture activities to recognise and celebrate London’s Open House Festival 2016.
A level Art & Design students from Wallington High School for Girls will lead a variety of activities, from intricate and unusual structures built using paper tubes to creating imaginary buildings and cities through drawing and collage.
Perhaps getting your brain engaged to build bridges using Polydron geometric construction is your thing? This is a drop in session, so feel free to come at any point from 12-2pm, but we recommend arriving no later than 1.30pm. Book your free place here.
Carshalton and Beddington Walk
Enjoy the Wandle River and heritage of Sutton, as well as internationally recognised buildings such as BedZED; all led by Ian who is a very experienced guide in the area. Here, you can book on a place.
