Residents in the borough are being asked to hand in firearms, imitation weapons, BB guns, air weapons or ammunition at Sutton Police Station during a two-week firearms surrender campaign being run across London by the Met Police until Sunday, 6 December.
It means people surrendering firearms may not face prosecution for illegal possession and can remain anonymous. Each live weapon handed in will be assessed by firearms officers, with some weapons being forensically checked for evidence.
Last year, the Met Police carried out its first firearms surrender for six years. The two-week initiative resulted in more than 350 firearms and 12,300 rounds of ammunition being handed in.
Anyone wanting more details about how to surrender firearms or ammunition should contact Sutton Police station on 101. If you have any information regarding gun or gang crime you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or access a secure online form via www.crimestoppers-uk.org. In an emergency always call 999.
