Sutton and East Surrey Water has announced its annual water bill charges.
As water companies across the country announce their charges for 2016/17, Sutton and East Surrey Water has announced its average household bill will be £186, an increase of £3 or less than 2% on last year’s bill.
The company, which supplies 160 million litres each day to around 685,000 customers, will be investing over £115 million on mains replacements, treatment works upgrades and on replacing essential equipment up to 2020.
Anthony Ferrar, Managing Director of Sutton and East Surrey Water, said: “This year’s increase, which is in line with the 2014 Price Determination from our regulator Ofwat will allow us to continue to deliver high quality, reliable drinking water as well as investing in securing future supplies, while still keeping bills affordable.
“The amount our customers end up paying will vary depending on individual circumstances, with some paying more and some less. But at around 50p per household per day we think this represents excellent value for money.
“We appreciate that for our most vulnerable or low-income customers any increase can be a challenge. For customers who have difficulties paying their water bill I would encourage them to contact our Customer Services Team on 01737 772000, who will explain about the range of schemes we have available to help.
“For example, over 5,000 customers are now benefitting from our WaterSupport scheme introduced in April 2015, which provides a 50% discount on water charges for eligible customers.”
