Carshalton and Wallington MP, Tom Brake, used a parliamentary debate on housing which for a series of reasonable, common sense solutions to the housing crisis to increase the availability of quality housing.
Tom said, “ The country faces a severe housing crisis in which ordinary people cannot afford to rent, let alone buy, their own home. Unfortunately, the Government's proposals simply will not address the crisis and are in fact likely to increase the shortage of affordable homes.
“We must come up with a coherent plan that will fix the housing supply problem, create low energy sustainable homes and reduce homelessness as soon as possible. There is too much at risk to prolong this housing crisis any further.”
