Enquiries carried out by officers from Sutton West Safer Neighbourhoods Team after a report of a stolen car with scaffolding company livery on its side appeared on Facebook, led to three stolen vehicles being recovered.

Although there was no sign of the car when the officers visited the road, they carried out police checks on vehicles in the area – and found two vehicles had been reported as lost or stolen.
One of them - a BMW X3 had been stolen from Croydon three weeks ago. The other vehicle, a 1,000cc Honda motorcycle, was on false number plates had been used in theft of petrol from filling stations. Both these vehicles were recovered and taken to a police vehicle pound.
The scaffolding car was found later the same day just a short distance away. The owner has been reunited with the vehicle.
Sgt Monk said: “Residents tend to know their streets so if your see anyone hanging around you don’t recognise, a vehicle that you are unsure about, or if something is going on that doesn’t look or feel right, please tell us.”
