On Monday 25 April, Sutton and East Surrey Water (SESW) will begin work on an essential water mains diversion in Princess Way, Redhill. In order to allow for a proposed future development, the company has been asked to reposition its main to secure water supplies in the area.
“Our works will start opposite the entrance to Sainsbury’s car park and continue towards and just beyond the junction of Princess Way and Ladbroke Road. Because of the position of the pipe in the carriageway, and for the safety of road users and our workforce, we will have to close one lane,” explained David Plumadore, Engineering Technician for Sutton and East Surrey Water.
“There will be no access in to or out of Ladbroke Road for buses and HGVS when our works reach this junction, and the traffic island at that junction will be temporarily removed. Access for residents and road users (except HGV traffic) will be unaffected, and the station car park will remain open.”
The works are expected to be complete by 16 May. However, if SESW is unable to finish by that date, all works will cease to allow other works in the area to proceed, which will help minimise disruption to road users.
SESW apologises in advance for any inconvenience these essential works may cause and thanks road users and local residents for their co-operation. Anyone requiring further information should contact the company’s customer services team on 01737 772000 or follow @SESWater on Twitter for updates on the progress of the works.
