Police in Sutton have received a report of Year 8 boy who was walking to school being encouraged to get into a vehicle that had pulled up alongside him in Staplehurst Road near the junction with Banstead Road on Monday, 11 January at 07:45hrs.
The male driver remained inside the car whilst he spoke to the boy. The driver told the boy that he had been asked by the boy’s mother to pick him up so he wasn’t late for school.

The boy refused to get into the car and the man drove away.
The suspect is described as light-skinned, black male with short black hair, wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. The vehicle is described as a small blue car.
Sutton Detective Inspector Brett Roche said an investigation was underway and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Police have increased their patrols in the area.
Det Insp Roche said it is important that parents remind their children about the importance of saying ‘no’ to strangers.
“Our crime prevention advice to children is to shout ‘no’ or ‘help’ and to move as quickly as possible to a place of safety such as their school or to someone they know and can trust,” he said.
