Over 100 businesses and organisations have signed up to Sutton Council’s Clean Streets Sutton business pledge in just two months.
There have been one hundred and nine signatures to the pledge, which lays out some simple steps that can be taken to reduce litter around shop fronts and business premises. These may include reducing packaging, installing new bins, or reporting problem areas to the Council.

Claire Hellings, Assistant Manager of TazZa Coffee in Sutton town centre, said:
“We’re proud to be involved in this campaign to help keep Sutton clean. It’s good for all of us if our towns and streets are tidy.
“I hope many more businesses will sign up and that we can all work together for the benefit of shoppers and traders alike.”
Shoppers should look out for the green window sticker in shops and businesses who are participating in the Clean Streets Sutton initiative.
Cllr Jill Whitehead, Chair of the Environments and Neighbourhoods Committee at Sutton Council, said:
“The Clean Streets Sutton campaign is an opportunity for residents and local traders to contribute toward a cleaner Sutton.
“We can all do more to help make our streets, town centres, and parks cleaner. I’m delighted to see that we’ve already had 109 signatures to our business pledge – that really goes to show how committed local organisations are to helping keep our borough clean and tidy.”
Businesses play an important role in shaping the look and feel of local communities. Operating responsibly and maintaining clean, tidy, litter-free premises can stimulate trade and go a long way towards boosting the local economy. Working together Sutton’s business community has the power to improve the local environment for the benefit of all.
