Detailed plans have now been developed for the project to restore, conserve and enhance Beddington Park have now been completed. The park wide proposals and will be submitted to Heritage Lottery Fund at the end of February. The council will find out in June 2016 if they have been successful in their bid.
In 2014 Sutton Council was awarded development funding by the Heritage Lottery & Big Lottery Funds to develop a . This small amount of funding is being used to create detailed proposals for submission to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) in February 2016, in a bid to receive £2.9m.
This work is part of a Sutton Council plans to have projects which are commissioned by residents to improve their environment. This citizen commissioning project involves support and leadership from the local community to get involved and make decisions about what residents and volunteers want to see in the Park and how it will be supported and sustained going forward.
Plans include:
Improvements to entrances
Improvement to access and parking
Installation of interpretation panels
Restoration and improvements to the Grange Garden (to include an apple orchard)
Development of a new garden space in the churchyard extension
Dredging and improvement works to the lake and stock pond
The enlargement and improvement of the children’s playground
The project will also involve the delivery of a 3 year programme of activities and events, set to include a range of walks and talks, children’s activities, exercise programmes, art and theatre events as well as a volunteer programme providing training and volunteer opportunities throughout the park.
