Agenda for Meeting
Tuesday 24 May 2016 7.00-8.30pm House of Favour, 106 Beddington Lane, Croydon, Surrey, CR0 4TB
1. Welcome and Introductions and Apologies for Absence
2. Previous Minutes
3. Sutton plan
The Forum remain very concerned about the proposed loss of Metropolitan Open Land proposed in The Sutton Plan. The potential loss of this green space to industry will further reduce opportunities for access from Beddington to the new country park on Beddington Farmlands.
A meeting is being arranged with the Hackbridge Forum, Wandle Forum and Wandle Valley Regional Farm to coordinate efforts on this issue.
4. Beddington Farmlands
Members of the Forum's Committee attended the Viridor Conservation and Access Management Committee (as non speaking observers) and were able to tour part of the Beddington Farmlands. We were impressed by the restoration work that has gone on. Whilst the Conservation and Access Management Committee is in its infancy we remain concerned how it is going to function. It is unclear how the community representatives will engage with the local community and what priority given to creating access for people to the Beddington Farmlands site.
Seagulls on the landfill site are a nuisance for residents and businesses in the Therapia Lane area. The Forum requests Sutton and Viridor look again at the problems. Is there a way of preventing the birds roosting in the Therapia Lane area?
5. Thames Water
We understand Thames Water has declined a role on the Conservation And Access Management Committee. Thames are still largely in control of the Hundred Acre and Scheduled Ancient Monument sites which are very important to the management of the Beddington Farmlands.
We are working with Sutton Council to set up a meeting with Thames to discuss this and other related issues.
6. Richmond Green
Update on Sutton Council's planning application on the Richmond Green bungalows site.
7. Portland Cottages
Update on parking issues
8. Bond Gardens
Update on Sutton Housing Society development proposals.
9. Neighbourhood Plan
We are receiving government funded planning support for our emerging Neighbourhood Plan. We have had an initial meeting with Aecom (the planning consultants) to run through the specifics of what support they can offer. It was agreed that Aecom will help us look at site development / environmental improvements in the Strategic Industrial area.
Aecom and the Beddington North Neighbourhood Forum would like to meet with businesses / landowners to discuss potential improvements / redevelopment.
10. Beddington Business Improvement Business
We are keen to work with businesses as well as residents and have been in touch with Peter Whitehead to discuss potential joint working with the BID and Sutton Council. We will be back in touch when the BID is more fully up and running.
11. Public realm / Transport
