Vice Chair, Dick Bower & Chair, Samia Tossio, attended the Environment & Neighbourhoods Committee meeting on 16th January. Stephanie Crossley presented the recommendation & Cllr Stephen Penneck said "We are pleased to have reached a good conclusion. We received two very good quality bids ... and I would like to thank the time & effort put in by the main bidders. STT offer an exciting forward programme & the Council achieve a saving." He added that "the Amateur Dramatics community will be keen to ask questions of the operator", who he wished every success for the future.
Cllr Penneck informed Arts Network Sutton that the recommendation in the report was accepted by Councillors from all parties. He advised that a full press release with more details on the highly qualified people behind Sutton Theatres Trust will be released in the next few days and a 'press conference' will follow shortly after.
