A goal in each half was enough to register a 2-1 win against our visitors meaning we’ve now won three out of four pre-season friendlies to date.
Manager Matt Howard once again gave the core of the squad a run out, although defender Adam Thompson was once again missing and Sean O'Toole unavailable. There was also a welcome surprise as former midfielder Luke Pigden, who is currently without a club, was named in the starting eleven.
We took the lead on 13 minutes as a Paris Hamilton-Downes cross was knocked past his own keeper by Foulton Chandler-Joseph.
We held that lead until four minutes after the restart when Danny Bassett equalised but Bentley Graham, who was with Whyteleafe last season, restored our lead on 56 minutes and that’s how it finished.
There was also a first run-out for midfielder Jamal Alexander who has now recovered from the knee injury he sustained last autumn.
The Vice Presidents’ ‘Man of the Match’ was jointly awarded to Pigden and forward Tommy Bradford after the game.
Our next friendly is at home against Sutton United on Tuesday 28th July, KO 7.45pm.
