Sutton & District AC athletes won three medals on Saturday at the Surrey Schools Cross Country Championships at Reigate Priory. Gold for Dominique Corradi in the Junior Girls race was soon followed up by a silver medal for Olivia Stillman in the Inter Girls race. Gold also for Ricky Lutakome in the Inter Boys race. All three, and Ben Barry who finished 4th in the Senior boys race, qualify to compete for Surrey in the upcoming English schools Championships in March. A turnout of 18 Sutton & District athletes competed across all 8 races in the Surrey Schools Cross Country Championships. Three second half goals saw Sutton Common Rovers first team exit this season's FA Vase away at Bowers & Pitsea, from the Essex Senior League, writes By Gary Brigden Sutton Tennis Academy is one of the top tennis academies in the United Kingdom. It offers a wide variety of tennis programmes to suit players of all levels both locally and internationally, but specialises in preparing young athletes for elite level through full-time training and tournament involvement.

Tennis coaching at Sutton Tennis Academy includes individual tennis lessons and a wide range of tennis courses. As an LTA High Performance tennis centre, tennis training is linked to various tennis programmes, including Tennis and Education, Mini Tennis, tennis squads for all levels and Holiday Camps. Facilities include nine indoor tennis courts, eight clay courts, five floodlit outdoor tennis courts and two modern gyms. Sutton and Epsom rugby first team found themselves back to winning ways in their latest game against Havant. Sutton and Epsom Rugby Fottball Club runs one of the largest Junior operations in the network, with over 300 girls and boys spread across the full age range from U13-U18. The club currently has two sides in each age group from U13-U16 and one each in U17 & U18.
These sides train on Wednesday evenings at the club and on Sunday mornings at Priest Hill, and all enjoy a full programme of league and friendly fixtures. "Whilst many of the Junior players have progressed with through Mini Rugby, there are plenty who were new to the game when they joined the Juniors, so don’t be put off if you haven’t played before. We operate an open door policy and welcome anyone who wants to join us," said a statement on the club's website. "Our Junior operation is very successful, with many of our teams playing in their respective higher divisions of Surrey youth rugby. Our current U14s are reigning County champions and many players have come through our Junior ranks and gone on to representative honours. Paul Hodgson progressed through our Juniors onto full England honours, whilst more recently, three of our Junior Members have played at Junior international level for England. "Higher up in the Juniors, we have plenty of U17 & U18s who play in our various Adult sides and the coaching framework is structured to make the transition from Junior to Senior rugby as smooth as possible. "Our Girls section was formed a couple of seasons ago and we already have over 40 girls aged from 12 to 17 years old that enjoy their rugby with us under the Junior heading, we also have plenty of girls playing rugby at minis ages as well which starts at the age of 6 years old. "Training for the U13s and U15s girls squads is Wednesday evening at the club starting at 6pm to 7.30pm for the U13s and 7pm to 8.30pm for the U15s and U18s, Sunday Training is at Priest Hill playing fields a couples of minutes down the road next to Ewell east train station, starting at 10am and finishing at midday, we have plenty of Matches and Events during the season and these are normally held on Sundays. Membership fees are just £80 per season for the Youth Girls players and this fee includes Sutton & Epsom rugby shirt, shorts and socks to train in. Next up for the Youths is a visit to Imber Court as they take on Met Police next Thursday 4th February. Meanwhile Sutton will visit either Raynes Park Vale or Badshot Lea in the Surrey Under-18s Midweek Floodlit Cup Semi-Final, the winners of which will play either Carshalton Athletic or Met Police in the Final.
