Sutton made it five wins out of five in the Ryman Youth League Central Division with a convincing win against Dorking Wanderers at Gander Green Lane.
At the other end, George Warne’s long range effort was saved by Ronnie Hill but moments later, Sutton were back on the attack and finally took the lead when Burke-Hamilton’s corner fell kindly at Jack Strange’s feet a yard out and he touched the ball home. Towner then played Phillip in on goal but his first-time effort was pushed wide by Rob Feeley, but Sutton doubled the lead after half an hour when Reyon Dillon’s deft flick put Phillip through and he curled the ball around the keeper and inside the far post.
Two-nil quickly became three-nil as another Burke-Hamilton corner made his way to Tom Mallett whose thumping low volley from twelve yards out made its way through a crowd of players and into the bottom corner.
Burke-Hamilton again came close in the opening moments of the second half as his looping effort nestled on top of the net, but it didn’t take long for the fourth to arrive as Phillip found Jordan Watson-Brown’s overlapping run on the right and his cross saw Brown rising highest six yards out to head past Feeley. Dillon then twice came close as first his low drive was tipped wide and then he headed Watson-Brown’s cross over, before Elliot Anderson was denied a fine goal after a driving run and powerful strike by an equally fine save.
Dillon finally got the goal that his performance deserved as he cut inside from the left and fired low and hard inside the far corner, then Dom Lane had the misfortune of turning the ball into his own net from Phillip’s cross from the right.
