Two defensive mistakes allowed Town to take a two goal lead into the break and that proved to be the main difference in a game which was evenly matched for long periods.
Team news: Jordan Higgs was recalled in the place of Robert Tanner from the only change from Tuesday night's line-up, while new lad Jordan Martin was on the bench.
We started brightly with Rob Carrick and Michael Campbell forcing Town keeper Simon Overland into good saves inside the first five minutes, but a simple clearance from a visiting defender deceived Adriano Moraes and Higgs and Dean Grant was able to take it forward and slot home under no pressure.
A neat move involving Carrick and Mickel Miller saw the latter neatly flick a through ball into the run of Jamal Alexander, who burst clean through on goal. He decided to take the shot on early and Overland performed a good save to deny him from just inside the area.
Town doubled their lead on 22 minutes as Tony Sinclair thought he'd done enough to defend and turn on a long ball, but Grant managed to pinch it off him 20 yards from goal and play a one-two with Josh Stanford before ramming it in past Eden.
We rallied again straight from the restart and Bobby Price played a one-two with Tommy Bradford down the right to burst into the Town box. He pull back was destined for the incoming Alexander but a flailing Town foot cleared the pass for a corner. We kept up the pressure by winning two more in quick succession but Carrick's eventual volley was blocked away from 15 yards.
Michael Campbell was the victim of two extremely tight offside calls late on in the half, while Eden done well to save a John Scarborough header on 44 minutes.
HALF-TIME: 0 - 2
There were claims for a penalty just after the hour as Campbell collected a cross in the Town box and he appeared to be hauled down, but referee Kaye waved away the protests.
A few yellow cards were dished out as the tempo of the game rose and both sides missed half chances, while Alexander put an effort over from distance and Brendan Murphy-McVey was introduced for Bradford with 16 minutes left.
Eden did well to parry a drive by Town sub Renford Tenyue, and the linesman's flag denied Wayne Wilson's acrobatic follow-up, while Overland dropped a Murphy-McVey free kick but no-one in a red shirt could react quick enough to capitalise.
We did get a penalty on 82 minutes as Aidan Sherlock brought down Silvera after he took down a Murphy-McVey cross. The young striker picked himself up and struck it firmly to Overland's right but the ball cannoned off the post.
That was disappointing but the arrears were reduced four minutes later as Alexander took a pass and turned nicely on the edge of the box before smashing a low shot past the dive of the Town keeper.
And we thought we'd taken a point when Murphy-McVey displayed quick feet to make some space 20 yards from goal but, instead of nestling in the top corner with Overland beaten, the ball rippled the wrong side of the side-net.
Next up: We travel to Three Bridges for an FA Trophy tie on Saturday 18th October before its Surrey Senior Cup action as Egham Town visit us on Tuesday 21st October. We then host Guernsey on Saturday 25th October.
