Sunday 11th October saw the Cheam Hockey Club U10 boys’ first tournament of the season, writes Stacy Main
The weather was bright and clear and the boys were excited to get started. However, by the end of
the first half of the first match they were 0-3 down to a strong side from Wimbledon ‘A’.
The Cheam boys came back fighting, hungry for a win. They battled really well and with some fantastic passing and accurate strikes at goal the full
time score was 3-3.
he Cheam boys again worked really well as a team and at half time the score was 1-0 to Cheam. Cheam continued to attack well in the second half and despite the Addiscombe Goalkeepers skill and best efforts 3 more goals hit the back of the net making the final score 4-0 to Cheam.
ell done the Cheam Goalkeepers for keeping a clean sheet.
The final match saw Cheam pitted against the unbeaten Wimbledon ‘B’.
Our boys were buoyant going into this match but by no means over confident. It was a very even paced match with action shared between both halves of the pitch. There was nail biting parents watching on the side lines from both teams.
heam had the advantage of a fully padded (albeit novice) Goalkeeper, whilst
Wimbledon decided to play without one and play the advantage of an extra attacker. Teamwork
from Cheam was again great to see, both attacking and defending, and the final score was 3-1
Cheam.
