The bigger and brighter new facility, which will be based at Southwood Business Park in Farnborough, will have 27 dialysis stations with four isolation rooms (replacing the 16 stations and two isolation rooms at the Trust’s current dialysis centre at Farnham hospital).
The new centre, which will be run in partnership with Fresenius, will help to meet the increasing demand for renal replacement therapy across the county.
James Marsh, the Trust’s Joint Medical Directror, said that the spacious new site would increase services and patient comfort, with a considerably larger waiting area and more space between dialysis stations:
“Our main priority is always to ensure that our patients receive the highest standards of care possible; something that the planned centre in Farnborough will help us achieve for local patients needing dialysis.
“By moving dialysis services to a larger and more modern centre in Farnborough, we will be able to provide increased capacity, resulting in greater flexibility for less mobile and bed-bound patients, greater flexibility when booking appointments, and in some cases, less time spent in hospital waiting for dialysis.
“To ensure that every one of our patients continues to receive efficient care in a way that best suits their personal needs, there will be a full consultation with each patient regarding the relocation plans, to determine whether they would like to move their care to the new Farnborough unit, or to another of our satellite units in Surrey.”
