Do you get help from health professionals for feeling anxious, feeling stressed or feeling low? The Care Quality Commission (CQC) wants to hear about your experiences of health and social care for a public awareness campaign they’ll be running this summer. We are looking for men and women who are happy to be case studies for our campaign. We will ask our case studies to take part in some or all of the following activity: Speak to a member of CQC staff about your experiences of care; Take part in a video where they talk about their experiences of care – whether positive of negative; Speak to media about their experiences of care. To talk to CQC about your experiences of care, please send an email to [email protected] leaving a short description of your experience and contact. The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England On Tuesday 26 April and Wednesday 27 April 2016, junior doctors across England are going on strike with a full walk out, following the breakdown of talks between the British Medical Association and the Government over proposed changes to employment contracts.
Sutton's GP organisation the Clinical Commissioning Group has issued the following statement. "It is clear that any form of industrial action is likely to place significant pressures on the NHS at a point when it is already facing significant demand and the effects of a full walkout will be felt far and wide by NHS providers and their patients. "The role of NHS Sutton Clinical Commissioning Group (Sutton CCG) during industrial action is to support NHS providers and NHS England to ensure that the NHS as a whole continues to operate as effectively as possible. Sutton CCG is not responsible for negotiating with staff or the unions or for direct communication with patients about the impact of strikes on individual services. Sutton GPs encourage local people to get to know their bowels
April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and GPs in Sutton are reminding local people to ensure they take part in regular screening. Staff at the Eye Unit at St Helier Hospital have unveiled a brand new, state-of-the-art piece of equipment donated by the generous volunteers of the League of Friends. The piece of kit, worth £21,000, tests peripheral vision (the sight seen surrounding your central gaze) in order to help patients with varying conditions, such as those with glaucoma, brain tumours and those about to undergo eye operations. The recently installed gold standard machine, known as the Humphrey Visual Field Analyser, is now in place to treat all those that use the Eye Unit. The department needed the new additional machine to meet increased clinical demand as the service expanded when it moved to St Helier last year. GPNHS Sutton CCG (Sutton CCG) has announced that North & East London Commissioning Support Unit (NEL CSU) has been named as the preferred bidder to provide IT services for the borough's GP practices as well as staff working for the CCG.
Subject to due diligence and final contractual negotiations we expect that NEL CSU will start providing the GP and CCG IT services in Sutton from 1 August 2016. Sutton CCG tendered for a new IT provider alongside neighbouring CCGs (Merton and Wandsworth) to achieve better value for money through economies of scale and to collaborate on the procurement process to make best use of resources During the procurement process, NEL CSU demonstrated that they were focussed on delivering high quality IT services for local GPs and health staff, as well as offering the best value for money. Dr Chris Elliott Chief Clinical Officer, Sutton CCG said, "Our priority is to commission a high quality IT service that will meet the needs of our GPs and CCG staff, enabling them to work efficiently to deliver high quality health services for people living in Sutton. We also want to make sure that the service delivers good value for money. "NEL CSU demonstrated their focus on high quality service provision and customer service during the procurement process and we were impressed with their operating model which aims to resolve a high proportion of faults on first contact, leading to quick resolution of issues and high customer satisfaction scores. We look forward to working with them in the future." Do you want to make changes to your lifestyle which will improve your health? Not sure how to get started?
